Monastery of Astino (BG): creation of eco-friendly driveways
The monastery was founded in 1107 and became, due to the moral rigor of the monks of Astino, a point of reference in the first half of the 1200s for the nascent Dominican order. Over the centuries, the monastery has had many vicissitudes, both due to changes in its intended use and frequent renovations, but it has always retained a very particular charm. The last intervention, in which we were protagonists, was the arrangement and reconstruction of the access and service roads around the monastery and was carried out with the Nature Stabil Road stabilized soil system by Terra Solida, a 100% eco-friendly certified system %.
Description of the project
Creation of paths in stabilized earth with the use of a stabilized granular mix and environmentally friendly binders for the monastery of Astino (BG), whose valley is part of the Regional Park of the Bergamo Hills.
The design requirements for the creation of the routes were mainly:
- eco-friendliness of all the materials used;
- colors and textures entirely in accordance with the lithology of the site;
- durability of materials achieved with the high mechanical performances obtained;
- high permeability of floorings
Products used
To create the routes the following were used:
- Nature Premix, an eco-friendly natural binder, used for the stabilization of the aggregates used after adequate testing by the technical management of Terra Solida;
- Stabilcure curing aid to ensure correct maturation of flooring surfaces.
