Natural parks and paving: the most ecological choices

Eco-friendly drainage flooring with single-granular aggregate

When walking in a park in the city or in one forest in the mountains, every anthropic element must merge into one continuum consistent with the natural world. The boundaries between what is artificial and what belongs to the more natural sphere must necessarily be blurred: one flooring, for example, must certainly be functional for foot traffic, but at the same time it must respect the context in which it is located, both at a material and landscape level. In short, when it comes to natural parks and paving, ecology must be put first: man's impact on the environment must be as limited as possible, to the benefit of the health of the planet and, consequently, of human beings. Today we are examining this very topic, talking about roads and pavements: in fact, we are going to find out what the solutions more suitable for parks and natural contexts.

Natural parks and pavements: the characteristics of roads and paths

From the materials used to the installation, nothing should be left to chance when man's works make their appearance in a natural context. In general, in fact, the flooringthey must not distort the underlying terrain but, rather, become a second skin with different characteristics: they must allow the rainwater to infiltrate naturally in the ground, they must avoid the formation of puddles, they must not pollute the natural site and, at the same time, they must be functional for human uses. If we had to summarize this concept in a few words, we would mainly use the terms "draining"and "permeable” to describe the main ones characteristics of pavements in natural parks.

These, then, must be associated with other fundamental peculiarities, which we list below.

  • Eco-compatibility of the materials used: it would be good to use raw materials of 100% natural origin, such as quarry stabilized, perhaps recovered in the place where the works are carried out (so as to have the least possible impact from the point of view of emissions related to transport).
  • Recyclability: if the flooring created must subsequently be decommissioned, it is necessary that it can return to the production cycle as a secondary raw material, in the name of the oft-cited principle of the circular economy.

That's why when it comes to natural parks and paving it is essential that the materials used do not then become special waste: to achieve this point it is necessary that the aggregates used are mixed, for example, with eco-compatible binders that are perfect for living even in a natural context.

Natural parks and paving: which ones to choose?

Having made this broad premise, let's immediately move on to options available for the creation of eco-friendly flooring in a natural context such as a park, be it in the city, on the hills or in the mountains.

Stabilized land

La stabilized land used by Terra Solida, for example, it is perfect for creating dirt roads or paving for vehicles on already existing routes such as dirt roads, which are very numerous on the Italian peninsula. In fact, stabilized earth gives excellent results both in terms of mechanical performance and (minimal) impact on the environment. THE environmentally friendly binders they are mixed directly on the ground (therefore using local aggregates) to create a very high performing surface in terms of practicability. The typical characteristics of the materials, then, will make the permeable, draining and recyclable path.

Eco architectural concrete

In a natural park, especially if created in a city context, they can also be foreseen areas dedicated to socializing which, to the eco-compatibility of the materials, add the characteristic ofelegance and beauty. In these cases thearchitectural eco-concrete and washed gravel they are the choice of choice: the effect of the sown gravel is accompanied by the uniformity and compactness of the flooring. The bad weather will not be able to scratch the surface, whose non-slip properties will - at the same time - keep park goers safe from accidental falls.

Natural parks and paving: other ecological solutions

Un natural Park He can count different environments inside. As we have already seen, there may be natural paths dedicated to pedestrian or two-wheel traffic; or there may be spaces dedicated to socializing, such as small squares or areas with seating such as benches and tables. But they can be present, perhaps close to a building of historical value located within the park areas dedicated to greenery which must always be in order.

Let's think, for example, of the beautiful historic Italian homes, often surrounded by large gardens and nature trails: close to the villa, if there is a meadow, this is a good thing always in order. In this case, it is the one who gets us out of any trouble lawn protection grill, which creates a reinforced lawn at the base of which there is a support structure capable of keeping the grassy surface always in its place, without preventing water from flowing easily into the ground. Being trample-proof, it is a perfect solution even if the area is used extensively by visitors.

In short, as we have seen, when we talk about natural parks and paving le green solutions there are many and each of them has a specific purpose. Every environment and every area of the park can be reviewed from a sustainable perspective, combining the natural and anthropic aspects in perfect harmony. And when theecology is functional to nature and human purposes, there really is no excuse left.
