Flooring for outdoor parking in the garden: which material to use

You would like to create a parking space in the garden behind your house but a doubt assails you: is flooring to create to avoid that, at the first shower of water, everything turns into an impassable swamp, from which it will be very difficult to get out? The answer is only apparently simple: obviously one will have to be done draining flooring for external, but what kind? With what material?

Given a single (and also quite obvious) answer, there are many possible alternatives on how to achieve it. At “traditional” solutions to make outdoor flooring, in fact, in recent years some have been added which, in terms of cost/benefit ratio and environmental sustainability, are able to guarantee much better results.

We are referring, in particular, to surfaces in stabilized land and the use of lawn-saving grids to create the so-called “armed lawn”. In both cases it will be possible to create external parking in the garden with a more than reasonable expense and with a rather pleasant aesthetic impact. All with significantly shorter execution times than "traditional" alternatives.

Drainable paving for vehicles: which ones to use for parking in the garden

More and more often when we talk about draining outdoor flooring, stabilized earth and lawn guards are taken into consideration by both experts and homeowners. These two solutions, in fact, ensure a long series of advantages both on a practical, economic and aesthetic level.

  • Stabilized earth, the advantages. Used mainly in suburban and rural contexts, stabilized earth is ideal for extraordinary maintenance of Strade Bianche and country roads in very poor condition. In urban areas, however, it is mainly used for the construction of avenues, cycle paths and squares of various kinds. It is therefore also suitable for use within private properties, allowing the creation of entrance avenues and external car parks with high mechanical resistance and high level of permeability. Ideal, in short, for an outdoor car park with draining paving, thanks to which you can easily enter and exit the home garden;
  • Lawn saver grid, the advantages. Used to make land suitable for vehicles while maintaining the "lush green" effect of the turf, the lawn-saving grid is ideal for creating car parks both on large surfaces and on small areas (such as a home garden). Easy and economical to install, it guarantees excellent permeability and gives strength to the underlying ground, allowing you to create surfaces that are resistant even to the passage of heavy vehicles.

Outdoor parking in the garden: how to make stabilized earth

Creating an outdoor car park in the garden with stabilized earth is very simple. It is also possible to use stabilized material to make an avenue and a square material already present in situ, or use crushed stone, quarry material and recovered aggregates from demolitions. The most important step is the first: the creation of a homogeneous and thick substrate, which is then able to support the weight of the vehicular flow without deforming.

The fund must have one thickness between 25 and 40 centimetres and must be made with permeable materials (such as crushed stone or "recycled" aggregates and subsequently compacted with the use of suitable mechanical means. Subsequently it will be possible to lay the stabilized earth flooring, created using soils present in situ with environmentally friendly stabilizers like the products in the line Nature Stabil Road by Terra Solida.

This family of products is designed to create permeable outdoor paving eco-sustainable and 100% recyclable: the stabilizer, in fact, does not release toxic substances into the ground, thus avoiding compromising the underlying aquifers and allowing all the materials used to be recycled once the road and square have to be dismantled.

Outdoor parking in the garden: how to make a reinforced lawn

Le lawn-saving grills they are the cheapest solution for creating draining outdoor floors. In fact, they allow you to create a driveway lawn in a short time and with a limited financial outlay: it will only be necessary to create an excavation of about ten centimeters to create a permeable foundation suitable for hosting a green and lush lawn.

Once the substrate has been created - using sand to cover any holes and permeable material to prevent dangerous water stagnation from being created - it will be possible to lay the honeycomb structure necessary to "house" the soil and the turf. Plastic solutions like Garden Grid by Terra Solida Italia they are easy to install and offer the necessary resistance to support the weight and transit of vehicles of all kinds (even heavy vehicles).

With the company Garden Grid attachment system it will be possible to create the honeycomb structure even on large surfaces in a short time, so as to be able to move on to the laying phase of the soil and the subsequent planting of the grass. In this last phase it is necessary to choose soil suitable for planting and plants with long and solid roots, ideal for compacting the entire structure.

    I ask for the (approximate) cost for the condominium I am in for a surface area of 70 x 5 metres?
    Would this type of paving prevent the regrowth of weeds?
    Thanks for the attention .

      Good morning Francesco. Your kind request, for which I thank you, does not allow me to give you a precise answer considering that it is a flooring for which the type and thickness must be established and furthermore the geometry of the area on which it is intends to implement it, its accessibility, etc. So, considering that you are asking us for an "orientation" value, so as not to shy away from answering, I can give you a cost that varies between 30 and 40 euros per square meter. For further information, I invite you to contact us by telephone and ask for free advice from one of our sales technicians. See you soon!
